Joseph L.Pelanconi known as J Pel (1973- present ) is an American artist. Born in the rural town of Arlington,Wa (40 miles north of Seattle) to Edward ,a logger by trade and his mother Diana ,a housewife. He is the middle child to 4 other siblings. Always the artist, He would sell his drawings in elementary to other children. He attended a Christian school from 6 to 9th grade. Then attended Marysville Pilchuck High school graduating in 1992. He is a musician, playing guitar since he was 15. At the age of 23 He was diagnosed with OCD and depression. Instead of using it as a crutch, he embraced it and used it to his advantage, putting it in his art and music. He didn’t start his painting career until his mid 40’s. One day he decided to buy paints, brushes and blank canvases, as a way to distress himself. What came out was a vivid imagination and an eye for small details. His paintings are a time for him to relax and let his imagination go. He believes beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and has a style all his own. His love for life and belief in Christ is important to him. His strong morals and ethics are something he derived from his father and Christianity. One of his favorite quotes is; “To be an artist, is to believe in life”… Henry Moore
